by Adam Grant
This book asks a deceptively simple question: how good are we at changing our minds?
Grant makes the case for treating our beliefs less like possessions we have to defend and more like hypotheses we’re willing to reconsider.
One idea in particular stayed with me: children are constantly asked what they want to be when they grow up, and at some point people stop asking us. I’m increasingly convinced that they shouldn’t.
We should probably keep asking ourselves that question for the rest of our lives.
